Wolves win the first ever trophey

Our Wolves u8s have won the easter tournament at Fred longworths.

The wolves went into the tournament with high hopes of winning there first ever trophey due to the good form in league.

The opening game saw the Wolves win against a good Lymm Rovers team as George Wren and Henley both hit back of the net but the second and third match in the prelim group stage didnt go to plan as the Wolves lost both games. The final games in the prelims saw the Wolves bounce back and ultimatly perform much better. The results in the prelim games could have been alot different if it wasnt for Tyree Gregson being in fine form in the nets.

Once out of the prelims it was down to business and thats when the champions league groups where formed and the chance to win some silverware.

The Wolves was drawn in the same group as Sale utd, Hindley juniors and Golbourne sport. After drawing the first game against Golbourne the wolves knew that they needed to win there last two matches to be in with a chance of winning the trophey as winners of that champions league group. The second match saw the Wolves beat Hindley in a close end to end encounter. With results going in favour of the Wolves in the other group match it meant the Wolves needed to win there last group game to be crowned champions and take the trophey back to Leigh as group winners.

The last match was a winner takes all between the Wolves and Sale utd. The Wolves scored straight from kick off when Henley McGinty broke through and finished in the bottom corner. From there it all went the way of the Wolves as they eased to victory as further goals from Jayden Greensmith and George Gallagher cemented the win and gave the Wolves there first trophey as a team.

There was also some individual awards handed out to some of the Wolves players. The awards where as follows

Jayden - parents player
Tyree - managers player
Lewis - best defender
George Wren/Henley - joint leading scorers
