First we would like to thank Atherton Town for hosting this event, all my lads had a great time playing in the tournament and on the fun fair.
The Raptors participated in the Holly's Hearts football tournament today and performed exceptionally well. In the group stages, we achieved 2 wins and a draw, securing the top spot in our group.
Moving on to the semi-finals, our team dominated possession but struggled to find the back of the net. The game entered seven minutes of golden goal, which still didn't produce a winner, leading us to a penalty shootout. We scored 4 goals to their 3, and thanks to a fortunate save by Alfie using his face, we secured our spot in the final.
The final match followed a similar pattern, with the Raptors' defense excelling and launching quick counterattacks. However, we were unable to score during regular time, resulting in another round of extra time (golden goal). Despite a fantastic display of passing and a close shot hitting the post and rolling along the goal line, we couldn't capitalize on it. Pine Villa swiftly counterattackedtaking advantage of a momentary lapse in our defense and scoring the only goal we conceded throughout the entire tournament.
All the boys performed admirably, and it's difficult to choose a Man of the Match. However, Owen stood out for me. He likely played his final game in red and blue, impressing me with his impenetrable defense and well-timed runs.
